This Friday marks the 25th edition of the Steam Whistle UNSIGNED indie music series. The special anniversary and show will include performances by Beliefs, The C’Mons & Hussy with proceeds going to benefit the Artists’ Health Alliance. To date, UNSIGNED has raised over $70,000 for the local arts community and featured over 70 independent Canadian acts.
Taking place in the Steam Whistle Beer Hall, doors open at 8pm and admission is $5 at the door. Don’t miss your chance to see the next big act before they break! UNSIGNED alumni include: The Rural Alberta Advantage, Austra, Hooded Fang, The Darcys, Young Empires, Rich Aucoin, The Balconies, Woodhands, Dinosaur Bones, Lioness, Parallels, Make Your Exit, and Kidstreet.
Be sure to arrive early to avoid missing one of my favourite local bands. Beliefs are back in Toronto after a jaunt down to SXSW and recently opening for The Breeders at The Danforth Music Hall. Check out the video for Beliefs’ bonus track Violets, here.
I’m so pumped about UNSIGNED that I’ve teamed up with my buds at Steam Whistle to make sure you don’t miss out on the sweet, sweet music. For the chance to win guest list for UNSIGNED on Friday May 24th, comment on this post telling me what band you are most excited for or Tweet “I want to join @drunkgirlTO and @SteamWhistle for #UNSIGNED25!” My party bud will be announced on May 22nd on Twitter.
